Kayaking in San Juan Islands
| Seattle and Washington State were just great!. We stayed with some friends of the family: Lee & Karyn & kids who made us more than welcome and provided a great base for travelling around. |
| We spent a few days on the San Juan Islands and did a bit of kayaking with the seals and eagles and snow capped mountains in the background. Here we are in our rented kayak (we had not picked up our own foldable by that stage). |
Kayaking in San Juan Islands
| One of the highlights of the San Juan Islands were the Orcas. We followed a pod for about 2 hours and had them swim under the boat and play around a lot. I'd like to say the boat was a kayak, but it was a whale chaser (Jan is conversely very happy to have been on a larger boat!). Here is one of the babies showing off: |

| And, the highlight of the trip, as far as Jan was concerned (or, the proof that we are completely sad cases as far as Greg is concerned), we went to Roslyn where they filmed Northern Exposure! The series finished filming a couple of years ago, but there are still plenty of sets left and trashy tourist shops making a living out of TV geeks like us. |
