Well, the leg 1 crews are safely off after the experience of a lifetime - and the bonus of a helicopter flight too!

However the wind is currently delaying the inbound leg 2 crews a little.

Ariel Clipper 1424 GMT 24 June

From Sir Robin Knox Johnston (Skipper, Ariel Clipper)

The Leg 1 crews are on their way home via helicopter. They all seem to have had a fantastic time and the photos should be incredible.

We are still iced in to the fjord - even the supply ship could not make it in yesterday! We will base ourselves here at Aappilattoq until we can grab an opportunity to get out.

A wonderful place to be stuck though! It is hauntingly beautiful here and Matthew Dickinson (our guide) is planning climbs and hikes for the Leg 2 crew. He says it is brilliant climbing country - not that I would know!

I'm looking forward to the helicopter flight. It will give me an opportunity to see this wonderland from a different angle.
