Apologies to those of you who have been waiting with baited breath for today's update. Whilst the boats are still prevented from leaving by the ice they certainly seem to be making the most of their stay.

Antiope Clipper 0435 GMT 28 June

From by Mark Hampton (Antiope's Mate)

It is 2 am local time and I have just been woken to stand anchor watch. My partner for this wonderous game is Rob from next door as the boats are rafted together. He is slightly on the nutty side! After spending yesterday climbing icebergs that look as if they are about to collapse he then slept out on deck - believe me it's freezing! He did admit it was "a bit cold"!

Anyway we have moved further up the fjord and are in a new bay.

Everyone is content after a wonderful day. We saw a huge hawk - its nest is about 5 miles away.

The overnight shore parties are off and there was a Gin & Tonic party on Antiope (much more civilised) with fresh trout in the coolbox. One was caught by Alex (mate on Ariel) and the others were a present from the local Inuit.

There is a big loch up yonder so I may try my hand fishing it later. I have found myself a hill which I intend to conquer tomorrow! I shall do it and let you know!

Regards

Mark Hampton.

Ariel Clipper 0838 GMT 28 June

From Sir Robin Knox-Johnston

We moved the boats further inland, up to Kangikitsoq fjord as we were advised by the Inuit that it was ice free. The passage to the sea is still blocked. It is incredibly beautiful and very calm with little ice. We will probably go back to Augpilagtoq tonight to check the possibilities of exit.

Bonington and Gore are up a mountain somewhere, Rob White has been climbing icebergs and eight others are ashore camping. Give me a warm bunk anytime!

The Inuit have been trying to teach Alex to fish - the water is teeming with large Rainbow Trout. They seem to have been having more success than Alex but I guess they do have more experience!
