General Notes of Interest
As you will see below they are out!
Last week end was a busy one for Clipper. After a very successful period of corporate work in the Solent with four boats, two Clippers then raced down to Falmouth to act as committee and start boats for the Atlantic Alone race.
Taeping is at Ipswich where a group of 12 employees from Virgin Direct embarked for a weeks team building.
Meanwhile at the London Hilton a corporate day out for 10 in a Clipper was the star auction prize at the Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund Independence Day Ball. This was sold for £3,000 which was by far the highest of all the prizes. Of course if it had been a day out for 10 in an ice bound fjord at Augpilagtoq it would have gone for twice this amount!

Ariel Clipper 0744 GMT 4 July

We have just cleared the fjord but have run into a wide band of brash ice offshore. Antiope have met up with the Danish navy who have advised Nanoirtalik to the north of us is impossible however Julianhab (a bit further north still) maybe an option. I have agreed with Antiope that she should start heading for Iceland while we will head for a Danish ship to transfer Inuit who is with us. After the transfer we will then set course for Iceland also. Last night was clammy and cold and so it has been good to see the sun this morning. RKJ

After leaving Augpilagtoq yesterday at 0900 we have finally freed ourselves from the ice and are currently 25 miles SE of Cape Farewell and heading for Iceland! We have spent two weeks in Greenland without being able to clear in and out of customs. Thoroughly enjoyed poem from Skipper's wife and friends. We are currently editing our latest offering.
Regards to all 'Leg Oners'. We are especially envious of P Dixon who is sunning himself in the Canaries where we believe it is HOT!
Regards Mike et al Antiope
PS: There is now some very patriotic red, white and blue ice now circulating off South Greenland.

Heading for Reykjavik! We are not sure of the weather forecast as the computer crashed and we missed the forecast but it is back on line now. A very rough stab at our ETA at Reykjavik is about the 10th July.
We had a fantastic fresh trout dinner with white wine sauce made by Eskill Stolle. The huge fish was given to us a s farewell present by Timou. Having got free from the coast we spent some time stowing the dinghies, outboard motors, mast ladders and all the other gear we had been using during our time around the fjord. We have also had a good general tidy up so are getting ready for our passage. RKJ
