BT - Official satellite telecom supplier to Clipper Ventures

24 July

by Colin de Mowbray

Well I'm back from arduous duty on board Taeping in London and so on with the Greenland adventure. Slightly late today but you will see the reason. Nothing from Antiope so I will chase them for a report tomorrow.
It was great to meet various Greenland veterans during Taeping's visit to St Katharine's and get some first hand stories. It was also especially nice to see families and friends being shown round.
I think it might also be appropriate to thank
JACOB'S CREEK, our official wine sponsor, for being a major part in the entertainment scene during the visit!

Sorry this update is late but everyone except Bob, Marie and Malcolm have gone up the hill to a hut where they stayed last night. Sue and Terry returned last night. It rained yesterday evening and during the night so the campers packed into the hut like sardines. They plan to climb one of the 3 beautiful peaks directly in front of us. Chris Bonington would have loved it here! We had a visit from a Scottish family in ribs yesterday. They have been coming here for 20 years, camping and exploring! Other visitors were friends of theirs in a westerly 38. They had finally got through the ice and are here for the climbing and also the diving! At present they are looking for Bill Tilman's boat 'sea Breeze' which hit a large underwater ledge and sunk in 1972. And good luck to them as I will not be joining that event. Malcolm is already making a hot curry for the walkers' return; this should please Robin. More later. Luv to all Alex
