San Pedro de Atacama A holiday from our holiday. After all our trekking, we left our camping gear in Santiago and flew with day packs up to San Pedro de Atacama on the alti plano deserts of northern Chile. Warm dry climate with hardly any rain or clouds, but at 3000 metres plus, it does not get too hot. San Pedro is the largest of the villages in the area which are built on natural oases. While firmly on the 'gringo trail', it was a great place full of cafes and restaurants in adobe huts, and great natural beauty.
