| Yup - the very place that they bottle the fizzy water! Our quest for a bed for the duration of the Grand Prix took us into the hills north of Bergamo. San Pellegrino turned out to be a lovely, faded grandeur spa town. We drove down at 6am each morning into the nearest local train station (a drive of around 40mins) before hopping on a train for an hour to get to Monza. Apart from getting up at such an evil hour, it worked surprisingly well. A special mention has to be made of the signalman at Ponte San Pietro train station who took pity on the 2 foreigners standing in the dark on the deserted train platform at 6am and brought us coffee and biscuits - molto gentile, mille grazie!!! |
