| Jules has abandoned his ship, but skipper Greg soldiers on.
We decided that sitting on the roof was much the safest place for Quiv, who
drives a boat with a distinctly irish 'flair'! The Aqueduct was built over
10 yrs, and opened in 1805. It traverses 1007ft of the countryside and is
suspended 120ft above it. Worryingly, the original mortar is still in place,
being composed of ox blood and lime! Even more worryingly, the iron trough
of the canal is sealed with welsh flannel and lead dipped in boiling sugar!! |
