| The place has got atmosphere, so I guess this is why art directors like to shoot videos here. We just happened to be walking through one of the plazas when we came upon this shoot. The locals standing on the balcony above are very happy to be in the video. The only thing that isn't authentic is the washing line - there is nothing so untidy in the beautifully restored streets of Old Havana! It is a pity that really only a couple of streets have been restored, and then only for the enjoyment of the tourists. The streets either side are gently crumbling into dust, even though they are still very much inhabited. A lot of foreign investment seems to have been coming in to Havana, evidence of this is the spanking new construction sites along the Malecon, all 5 star luxury hotels done by the Cuban government in partnership with various other countries (the most unexpected one was the People's Republic of China!). |
