De-icing Due to the amount of snow on the wings, we trundled over to the de-icing station before takeoff. The de-icing machines look like something out of Star Wars - the guy up in the pod drives the truck below and operates all of the different nozzles and stuff. When a plane pulls up, 2 of them manoeuvre over like giant mechanical insects and start doing their thing.
